Some watches are special not because of their material value but because of the stories they carry. This is the tale of a Tag Heuer Carrera Twin Time, a timepiece that has changed owners multiple times yet has always remained significant to those who have worn it.
The First Encounter
It all began at an auction that I attended with my cousin. Among the various watches on display, we came across this Tag Heuer Carrera Twin Time—a sporty yet classic piece, featuring a second time zone function with a 24-hour hand. My cousin was captivated by its elegant yet simple design, and he decided to buy it.
This cousin, who is more like a brother to me, had previously gifted me a Baume & Mercier Classima, another GMT watch. Little did we know that the Twin Time would soon take on a journey of its own.

A Wedding, a Gift, and a New Beginning
The story of this watch’s changing ownership began after the robbery that you all know about. Just a month before my wedding, I found myself without my collection. Sensing my loss, my cousin gifted me the Carrera Twin Time. From that moment on, it became a deeply meaningful piece for me. It was the watch I wore on my wedding day and took with me on my honeymoon. It wasn’t just a timepiece—it was a symbol of resilience, family, and new beginnings.
By then, this watch already held immense sentimental value, but its journey was far from over.
A New Mission
Two years ago, I found myself passing on this watch once again, this time to someone who is nothing short of a legend—a man whose life could easily fill the pages of a book. He also happens to be my wife’s grandfather.
Here’s where fate played its part: he had been keeping an identical model of the Carrera Twin Time, a gift that belonged to his grandson, my wife's cousin. However, true to his nature, he had a tendency to trade and collect antiques, art, and various collectibles without hesitation. One day, he impulsively bartered the watch away, unaware that his grandson would soon return from a trip and ask for it.
Realizing the predicament, he was in desperate need of a solution. Finding the exact model online was nearly impossible—it had been discontinued years before. Without any doubt, I took the Carrera Twin Time off my wrist and handed it to him. I knew I wouldn’t be getting it back, but I also knew it had found its next purpose.

Full Circle
Months later, while browsing, I came across another Carrera Twin Time at a reasonable price. Without thinking twice, I bought it—reclaiming not just the watch, but the emotions and memories it carried. Now, every time I wear it, I am reminded of my cousin, my wedding, and the day it served a greater purpose for my wife’s grandfather.
Some watches are meant to stay in a collection forever. Others, like this one, seem destined to change hands—again and again—always carrying a story with them. And who knows? Perhaps one day, it will find another wrist, another moment, and another chapter to add to its legacy.
